The skill of the cutter is to select sections of the skin that are the same in color and density without flaws for symmetrical parts. Leather is an elastic material, but not all elements of the shoe should stretch, so some are sealed with an adhesive lining. The sealed parts are thinner at the edges so that after sewing, the allowances do not create a double thickness: otherwise they lie worse and can rub when walking. Thinning is done on a special machine that grinds the edges of the skin to a predetermined thickness. The tailoring of the human foot has many curves, and the details of the shoes are flat. To give shape, the parts are placed on a metal block and pressed from above. Under the influence of temperature, the skin becomes softer, and high pressure stretches it in the right places. The flat piece takes shape. Before sewing everything together, the details are duplicated with lining: baize, leather, wool or fur, depending on the season and model. The master sews all the details on a typewriter, inserts a zipper and eyelets, if they are in the model. At the exit, he receives a leather “sock” without a sole, which is sent for a puff. Tightening The molded upper of the shoe is pulled over the last and attached to it with many small studs. It depends on the master how evenly the skin will be stretched and how the shoes will behave when worn. We tighten some models not by hand, but on a special machine. Dozens of thin tentacle pincers grab the edges of the top and attach them to the last. This is much faster than manual labor, so we can create more popular models. After tightening on the block, a technical insole and a welt are glued to it, securely connecting the top to the insole. At the last stage, glue is applied to the insole and sole and joined under pressure and at high temperature. Finishing A finished pair of shoes is sent for finishing. The master removes possible traces of glue, laces up the shoes, checks the functionality of the zipper and inserts a hygienic insole. Shoes are treated with cream and polished to a shine so that they fall into your hands in perfect condition.
