The Mig-17 is a Soviet jet fighter developed by the Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau in the late 1940s. The MiG-17 has become one of the most common fighter aircraft in the world. The aircraft was the result of further modernization of the MiG-15 model. The MiG-17 fighter is a mid-wing aircraft with a normal design, which includes one engine in the rear fuselage, a swept wing and tail. Based on the MiG-17, the first Soviet fighter-interceptor MiG-17PFU was built, the armament of which consisted of four air-to-air guided missiles. Despite the fact that already in the mid-60s the MiG-17 was considered an outdated machine for the USSR, it showed excellent performance during the Vietnam War.
