Despite its relatively compact size (100x62mm), the Orange Pi 5 is one of the most powerful and feature-packed single board computers released in 2022. It is based on the new 8-core 64-bit Rockchip RK3588S processor. It includes 4 heavy duty Cortex A76 cores and 4 economical Cortex A55 cores. The maximum frequency is 2.4 GHz. The GPU Mali-G610 MP4 "Odin" is responsible for graphics and video with support for OpenGLES 1.1, 2.0 and 3.2, OpenCL up to 2.2 and Vulkan1.2. The processor also has a hardware video decoder that supports up to 8K@60fps resolution, and a 6 TOPS neural processor that supports all major artificial intelligence frameworks. In addition to high performance, Orange Pi 5 has the most balanced configuration and a rich set of different interfaces, significantly expanding the range of tasks in which a single board computer will be most effective. The board has 16GB of LPDDR4 / 4x memory, 16 MB of SPI Flash memory for storage, for example, a bootloader that determines the media from which the computer will boot. A MicroSD card, a USB 2.0/3.0 drive or an NVMe SSD drive can be used as a carrier, for which an M.2 PCIe2.0 slot is provided. The communication capabilities of Orange Pi 5 are limited to support for a gigabit Ethernet interface. The lack of built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be compensated by installing an M.2 M-KEY WiFI6 + BT5 module. For connecting displays, HDMI2.1 ports are provided that support 8K @60Hz resolution, DP1.4 and USB3.1, as well as 2 MIPI D -PHY TX 4Lane interfaces supporting resolutions up to 4K @60Hz. To work with sound, the board provides a separate ES8388 codec. A 4-line MIPI CSI interface and two 4-line MIPI D-PHY RX interfaces are provided for connecting cameras. In addition, Orange Pi 5 has a 26-pin GPIO interface, 3 -x pin debug port (uart), one USB3.0, two USB2.0 and one Type-C (USB3.1) ports.
