First Use of AKM's Latest Flagship DAC - Complete Separation of Digital and Analog Signals
To create the new flagship, Astell&Kern have worked closely with AKM since the very beginning of the development of the audio path structure. As a result of the collaboration, the SP3000 is the first device with the innovative HEXA-Audio Circuitry, which combines four flagship AK4499EX DAC chips and two additional AK4191EQ chips.
The vast majority of players (including previous A&K models) process both digital and analog signals inside the DAC. Also, in standard circuits, the signal from the DAC is divided into unbalanced and balanced for feeding to the amplifier, which requires the addition of an audio switch to the circuit. These factors impose certain technical limitations on improving sound quality.
